I got a map of the world
Though I don’t get around

I had such grandiose plans
But my steps seem too small

Drawn in my spare time
A reflection of me

I’ve seen very little
But I’ve seen enough
To draw it again by heart
Another instance of beauty
One more allure
One more sample of the dark
On my map of the world… my map of the world

I got a map of this world
Now I’m rarely surprised
But I won’t say
That I’ve marched every mile
But I’ve scratched every line
As if I could fly
With the hope
And the skill of a child… a child with a map of the world

I’ve seen so little
But I’ve seen enough
I can draw it again by heart
Another path for the glamour
One for the dollar
Another to serve your art
With your map of the world… map of the world
